Most people living in northern Illinois never thought they would be able to see the aurora borealis spectacle, more commonly known as the northern lights, here in the region. However, on the night of Friday, May 10th, that dream became a reality. Social media was flooded with photos and we drove out into the dark country at 3:30am to get some shots ourselves. Here are a few of our shots – we didn’t get as lucky as some others who saw a very saturated sky and much brighter colors. Nonetheless, we are beyond blessed to have been able to experience this phenomena.
