Last night we were cloud-gazing and sensed something epic was going to happen. We quickly set up our drone and went straight up from our parking lot.
Not even two minutes later, the sunset light hit the clouds just perfect as to create a beautiful gradient in the skies above. The end result was spectacular as a the dark blue clouds from the east faded into the bright yellow clouds on the west, right as the sun was setting. The image was taken from Loves Park, and looks southwest over Rockford towards Byron, IL. In fact, if you look close enough, you will see the two cooling towers from the Exelon Nuclear Plant just outside of Byron. That’s an impressive 25 miles straight-shot view.
While we are not totally pleased with out foreground in this image, we believe the skies above compensate enough to make this still a great photo.
In times, such as the ones we are living in today, it is important to realize what America really is. While we do not mean for this post to be about politics, we understand many will see it that way regardless of what is said.
Going through our archives this morning, we ran across a picture that we took over a year ago. The photo shows students of all different backgrounds singing the national anthem with the American flag in the foreground. This was an event at an elementary school in Rockford, IL, where students honored military personnel and veterans. What a coincidence that we came across this photo just days after two mass shootings took place in our nation. What does this photo have to do with mass shootings? Well, it is obvious that the El Paso shooting was targeting the Latino community, maybe even more specifically Mexicans. The shooter believed that America stands for white supremacy… connecting the dots yet? This photo is what the real America looks like, people of all races coming together to make this a better nation.
As a photography service, we work with clients of many different backgrounds for private projects. We also photograph many public events where we see the so called “melting pot” that really exists here… and we love it. Think about America without all the cultural foods that these different people bring, no it doesn’t sound fun at all. Listening to the same genre of music, it all sounds alike…. boring! We won’t even get into the history of America, that is a whole different topic that could take us forever to write out.
We just hope that this picture opens your eyes! We hope you see the beauty and true meaning of what it is to be an American! United states for the united people.
We are beyond excited and pleased to announce that our photo has been selected as the winner of Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Best of Rockford Region photo contest! First of all, we want to thank everyone who has voted for the photo and the RACVB board for the recognition.
We love living and working in the Rockford area and as our posts/photos show, we are always out and about and active in the community. This award means a lot to us as photography is a very passionate subject. Just like a melody to a musician, so is the photo to the photographer.
As far as what it took to get the shot, well that’s another story. First, we had to scout a few locations we thought would make a great photo. Then the real work began. Multiple trips were made to downtown Rockford to capture just the perfect lighting and mood. We tried being there at the crack of dawn and watched the sun set over the skyline. After we had a couple dozen photos we thought were pretty decent, then we had to narrow it down to 3 photos, and that’s always the hardest part.
We would also like to congratulate all the other awesome contestants and can’t wait what other awesome images the Rockford community keeps producing!
Today was just a perfect day in northern Illinois and KB Digital had a beautiful, huge house to shoot. Our client is a repeat realtor with ReMax from Byron, IL, and always has amazing homes for us to do.
The house sat on several acres of land so not only did we utilize our professional DSLR camera, but also our drone as well. Being a mid-summer day, everything was so green and beautiful. Flowers were in full bloom and the big, blue pool in the backyard added the summer vibe to everything.
Once we got the exterior of the house done, it was time to go inside. If you thought several aces, a huge pool and a 5-car garages was enough, you’d be surprised how much was inside. We had to make sure to cover it all, inside and out. The house featured 3 bathrooms, several bedrooms and a fully finished basement. The kitchen overlooks the back porch and the huge yard so we had lots of natural light coming in, but it also made it difficult to shoot into the windows.
At the end of the day, we spent over 2 hours at this property. We had so many pictures and video clips to transfer but better safe than sorry. Processing the images and putting the video together will take some time and we hope to have the final product up soon. If you need any real estate photography done for yourself or your business/client, please feel free to reach out to us.
As the first blog on our new website, we would just like to say welcome and thank you for visiting. We have recently migrated our site to a different server and are also using a different web host so things are a little different. It will take some time to properly transfer everything over, including past project examples and testimonials, but we are working on it.
In the mean time, please feel free to browse through the website. One difference you might notice immediately is that we have grouped all our services and examples into the Portfolio tab on the main menu. Within that group, we have split up the Photo | Video | Design categories to include more specific examples. This was done in effort to help you find proper examples faster rather than scrolling through a page with a variety of examples.
As you’re looking through the website, you might notice some sections will say “coming soon…” and we apologize but we do hope to get those done as soon as possible. Our contact form on the “Contact” page is fully operational so please do feel free to reach out to us with any questions you may have.
We feel privileged to be able to work with local clients right here in the Rockford region. As there are many other great businesses providing similar services, we want to thank you for choosing KB Digital. This is something we take very dearly and that’s why we treat each of our projects with the up-most professionalism and dedication.
